[comp.sys.amiga] Mounting Disk-Drives

hgschmie@faui41.informatik.uni-erlangen.de (Henning Schmiedehausen) (09/26/90)

Hi, everyone!

I have a little problem:

I've installed a boot-selector in my Amy and whenever I
set Boot-Drive to original 'DF2' (It will show up as
'DF0' of course), my Amy will forget the internal 3,5" drive.
This is not a Hardware-Problem! The logic for drive DF0 is not
able to auto-configure the drive, because the old V1.2/V1.3
Kickstart assumes automatically, that there is a drive df0.
So, after switching the computer forgets the drive.
Ok, but that's not the problem. My idea was, to MOUNT the
drive via Mountlist. (You can do this with FFS-Drives, it's
just a simple List and a 'MOUNT DFF0:'.
BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE with a drive which isn't already
configured by the powerup-sequence. So, the following list is
not working:

DF2:	Device = trackdisk.device
	Unit   = 2
	Flags  = 0
	Mask   = 0x7fffe
	Surfaces = 2
	BlocksPerTrack = 11
	Reserved = 2
	LowCyl = 0
	HighCyl = 79
	Buffers = 11
	BufMemType = 3
#

MOUNT DF2: works, but every 'cd' or 'list' will just say:
'device df2 not recognized'

I use Kick V 1.2 (really! :-) ), ARP V 39.1 and WB V 1.3

Can anyone help ?

(By the way, a friend of mine has the same trouble with
 the VD0 ASDG RAM-Disk. Any ideas?)
