[comp.sys.amiga] Deskjet printer on an A1000

My friend is about to buy an A1000 and he wants to know if the deskjet
printer he has hooked up to his IBM will work on the amiga. Does he need
a special cable. Where can he get the printer drivers?

Tell your friend it does indeed work as I have one at home
(actually a DJ PLUS but electrically they are the same.) A
special cable, well... yes. The main reasons are a different
sex DB-25 connector (from an IBM-PC) on the back of the A1000
for the parallel port and there are some wires that need to
be cut and one or two that need to be moved around. I have a
wiring diagram if your friend is handy with making cables.
Else I'm sure a local store that handles Amiga can sell/cobble
one up for you. If all else fails call Redmond Cable.

As for the printer drivers, AmigaDOS 1.3 comes with a DeskJet
driver.
