How, exactly, does ED (Cygnus Ed's activator) work? I know that it first looks in ram to see if CED is running (in which case it brings it the the front) or to see if it's in ram, but not running (in which case it starts it up). But in either case, it merely passes whatever arguments it gets to CED. My question is: if it cannot find CED in ram, running or not, then what path does it use to go about finding CED? Does it use the path it was called with? The system path (which might be the same as the path it was called with if it was called as 'ed' in some cases)? A friend of mine has major problems getting ed to find ced when he uses ed to start up ced. The documentation is skimpy at best on this issue, but I was hoping that someone had some info to share.
