A Chairde, While exchanging mail with other subscribers on the net someone suggested that it might be a good idea to start a net to specialize in Celtic (pronounced Keltic) culture, social activities, history, language, news items, etc. Modern centers of Celtic culture presently extend across national boundaries and do not comprise a single unified nation. They are: location language -------- -------- Brittany Breton Cornwall Cornish Ireland Irish Ilse of Mann Manx Scotland Scottish Wales Welsh A great deal of diversity and variation exist among these centers. Also beyond these cultural centers people of Celtic heritage are now living in just about every part of the earth. In my own area (New York - New Jersey metropolitan area) Celtic cultural, social and educational activities are going on almost every day throughout the year. There are many other areas, no doubt, that are just as busy if not more so than my area. The net would seem to provide an ideal medium for the exchange of information over long distances, and it should be a net for people of non-Celtic background as well since many non-Celts are already involved in Celtic activities. If you would like to set up such a net (net.celts?) please respond to net.news.group or to me by mail. Is mise, Joe McGhee houxk!jmg
