Washington (UPI) - A $2 million state-of-the-art computer with military applications was seized in West Germany by customs agents who believed it might be smuggled into the Soviet Union... An official identified the computer as a VAX 11-782, a 50,000 lb (sic) model manufactured by DEC... He described it as "critical technology" because the Soviets are not capable of producing it. "This is extremely high quality state of the art computer equipment. I understand that the uses in the United States were primarily military, some in nuclear power plants." My, at $40/lb, its a real steal.
