Willy Langeveld's VLT 4.846 is now available in the /incoming/amiga directory on abcfd20.larc.nasa.gov (or "newzanth" as some have chosen to call it) via anonymous ftp. These files were obtained directly from BIX. -rw-rw-rw- 1 5 143360 Oct 2 05:38 VLT-4.846.lzh -rw-rw-rw- 1 5 103424 Oct 2 05:39 VLTjr-4.846.lzh The following is part of the "Readme" file: VLT 4.846 ========= This is mainly a bug-fix update, but there are one or two new features. This version no longer comes with the old documentation files that previous versions came with. This is because there is a new manual available, see the notice in the docs directory. The only documentation files are about things not covered in the manual. The contents of the "docs/VLT.Manual" file: The VLT manual ============== The VLT manual is an official publication by the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. You can obtain it, free of charge, by writing to the following address: Publications Department Bin 68 Stanford Linear Accelerator Center P.O. Box 4349 Stanford, CA 94309 Ask for the following SLAC report: "A Valiant Little Terminal - A VLT User's Manual" SLAC Report 370 by Amanda Weinstein The manual is very complete, it is 114 pages in single-spaced fairly small type. Amanda did one heck of a job on it, as I'm sure you'll find out when you get it. You do not have to live in the US to be eligible to receive the manual. It was written for version 4.824. New features are described in the VLT documentation file in this directory, but this document assumes you have the manual. There is also short doc file for the PingServer (the Ping program). Willy. Note: If you don't have access to anonymous ftp, I'll email uuencoded versions of the Lharc archives mentioned above. Please send requests to mjw@alux2.att.com and specify which version you'd like to receive (VLT or VLTjr). -- Michael Weber mjw@alux2.att.com
