[comp.sys.amiga] WB2.0 HOT NEWS

scott@stsci.EDU (Jim Scott) (10/02/90)

First the disclaimer: I had my wife call C= today to
find out whne we are finally getting our AmigaVision
that was supposed to come with the A3000 we bought.
(I waited 1/2 hour on the line to customer support and
gave up!) While on the phone my wife asked about
the WB 2.0 ROMs. 1. The woman on the other end did
not seem al that knowledgable about things in general,
and 2. my wife isn't very well versed in the Amiga yet either.

Now the HOT NEWS: the customer support person said that
the 2.0 'just came in' and they will be 'shipping it
in batches within a week'
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps., she had no information on our AmigaVision except that
they recently started shipping it to people who did not
get it with the machine ....

Cross your fingers!

Sorry, but she has no idea what she is talking about. Commodore has just
released version WB2.02 to developers last week. This is a new version
of the OS and since developers have just received it, that means it has
just begun Beta testing. However, we did also receive a letter stating
that they expect 2.02 to be solid enough to go to ROM and that could
happen as early as the new year (don't expect it for Christmas).

They have just stepped up production of AmigaVision and will be
catching up back-orders (people who should have already received it)
through October. All 3000's going out now ARE being shipped WITH
AmigaVision. If you are owed a copy, expect it by the end of October.

I thought a posted an article last Friday saying that I had received in the
mail my copy of AmigaVision to go with my A3000, and that I didn't think that
I was special enough to be the only one getting it. :-)

If it's any support of the rumour, the current version of 2.0 (2.02) says that
next week it will be shipping.
