Sounds to me as if a lot of "multitask or die" folks are going to miss out on Dungeon Master... oh well, it's their loss... Now for the rest of us... responding on a couple of earlier questions, the only "legal" way to find out what the elements of spells are, is to find the scrolls which tell you how to create each spell. These are scattered all over the Dungeon... or, you can experiment on your own, using the info in the game manual as a guide... if the response to an attempt to cast a spell is something like "Raalf mumbles meaningless syllables..." it means that the combination you tried is *not* an actual spell... if it says "Raalf needs more practice with this Wizzy spell.." it means that it *is* a real spell, bu that your character doesn't have the experience to cast it... (write it down and keep at it..!) Or, you could invest in a good "hintbook"...! (Send me E-mail and I'll tell you where to buy mine.. :) For the "Hit and Run" puzzle (and for others requiring fast movement), be *absolutely certain* that none of your characters has a LOAD indicator in the "yellow or red".. if they're overloaded, they'll be slowed down... also be sure that none of them have any unhealed wounds on their body (outlined in red Even if their Health is fully recovered, the wounds will *not* heal b themselves, and will slow the Champions down.. One last hint about quick movement... use the keyboard cursor keys... it's *far* faster than clicking on the direction icons on the screen... BobR

Ok Ok, as a change of pace to all the copy protection flames lets get down to some important issues. CAN ANYONE GET ME OUT OF LEVEL 5? I can't get all the pieces I need to correctly answer the riddles on level 6. The most difficult treasure store seems to be the room with the transporter all over it. This is the only room on level 5 I can't get through. Can anyone help? -- *Felix Cabral * *AT&T Bell Labs /****************************\ * *Middletown,NJ |{rutgers, mtune}!mtgzy!felixc| * *4B-402 (201) 957-5081 \****************************/ *

(Possible minor Dungeon Master spoiler) I just finished Dungeon Master. (Good thing, too. I gotta study for finals.) But (and this has been bugging me ever since I finished), I didn't find a key for the lock at the bottom of the long staircase - the one that's engraved with a rune that looks like an "E". Does anybody know what that was for? Thanks in advance.

Well, I finally finished it. You know, right to the end. It was fun and I'm looking forward to "#2" if there is one. In the mean time, like most other people I have built a collection of maps for levels 1 - 14, if you want a hard copy of them (laser printed no less) for your own Quest send me $5 to cover postage and handling and I'll drop a copy in the mail to you. The address is 1141 Vasquez Ave, Sunnyvale, CA, 94086. Interestingly enough the maps are not the total spoilers you might expect. While they do provide some spoilers (like where secret buttons are) they don't have solutions to the more interesting puzzles. Nor will they help you battle your way through the myriad of monsters on the way. --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you. I recently purchased a Supra 30mg SCSI hard drive, and installed it on my A500. Though the drive has performed flawlessly, it has caused an interesting problem. I cannot seem to boot the computer, with the drive de-activated, since I have the 1.3 ROMS, and want to auto-boot the computer from the drive. Therefore, the computer WILL NOT power up and give me workbench without the drive turned on, as it needs to mount AT LEAST one partition. My question and observation is this: My useable memory dropped from 900K to about 750K or so, due to the DMA for the SCSI drive. DM apparently attempts to create a RAM disk, and does NOT have sufficient memory to do so (The manual does state that 1mg MINIMUM is required). When I go to load the program, it loads to the first screen, where ya open the gate, but if you step inside, it starts to load the data from DF0: for the maps. Now, it spins DF0: for quite some time, and then, just about the time you think it should be done, the system displays a "SYSTEM REQUESTOR" for the RESET/DEBUG, and the computer crashes with a GURU. If I disconnect the drive interface from the computer, all works fine. Now, this is a LIGIT copy of the program, which I purchased from my computer store. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has been experienced (sorry) has experienced this problem, and if just adding the 2mg Supra expansion would solve this problem. I am addicted to the game, and would really like to be able to play it. As of yet, it is the ONLY game I have any problems with. Come on guys; I posted a plaintive plea for succour to bit.listserv.games and got profoundly ignored. Someone out there put me out of my misery. I'll be as quick as possible; I realise this is ancient history to most people, but if you know the answers, then PLEASE send me some hints: This game is ruining my life. 1) Level 6. In the big room with all the pillars, Beholders and Skeletons, entered by the long passage that says 'I don't like to be ignored', there are two secret stores that I have found, but there seems to be a third. At least, there is a section of wall I see go down when I step on an invisible pressure pad, but I can't figure out how to keep the wall open. 2). Level 6 also. What do you do with the force field in the corridor that says 'Try your strength'. Hmm? Ehh? On a more general note, on levels 5 and 6 there seem to be a lot of empty rooms. Is this true or am I missing something sinister? ---Thanks Phil Gladwin phg@uk.ac.cam.cl, phg@cl.cam.ac.uk

The trick here is to lure some monsters onto the pressure pad, than use the green or blue magic box to freeze the monsters. This should give you enough time to enter the secret passage. > >2). For your first problem, trying to get the wall to stay open, lead apack of skeletons to the pressure plate and wait at the wall.It is a bit tricky to do but they will open the wall when they step on the plate. There is nothing on the otherside of the wall worth waiting for, all it does is supply a shortcut to another section of the maze. It is just a Red Herring. For your second problem with the forcefields and the Try Your Strength graffiti, throw something down the hall, if you throw it hard enough it wiil land on a pressure plate and open a door with some useful stuff behind it. As to the empty rooms you are not missing any thing really important, there is a secret passage opposite the cell in the beggining of that hall, try pushing all the hooks in that hall I hope this helps.
