Can someone please tell me the real world performance differences between Quantum and Seagate hard drives? I have heard that the Quantum contains a 32kB buffer which should increase throughput. How much of a difference does this actually provide. I will be using this on an A-1000 with a C-Ltd SCSI adapter. Will the performance differences be nullified by my current setup? Secondly, has anyone dealt with an outfit called Hard Drives International? They sell an external drive called the "PowerDrive" which is an external hard drive (i.e. case and power supply) for the Mac (so obviously it runs pseudo-SCSI, which the C-Ltd also runs). The Seagate version (45Mb, 28ms) and the Quantum (40Mb, 19ms) versions of "PowerDrive" run $379 and $419 respectively. Any opinions? (I would prefer to purchase a ready made external unit rather than worry about buying seperate parts and worry about messing things up myself.) Thanks for your help.
