Can someone recommend a decent budget keeping/home finance program for the Amiga? It doesn't have to be complex, just something that will help me keep track of my money... I've heard Phasar 4.0 by Antic Software is all right, but I saw an advertisement for a new home management/budget program in the last issue of Amazing computing or Info. Later

Altho I haven't seen PHASER, HOME FRONT or MONEY MENTOR, I've had some experience working with BEST. After a year with this program, I decided to write my own accounting program! Accounting which is vital to every business, should be somewhat enjoyable. BEST and I had several disagreements, and I won :) Removed it from my hdrive. My program is called "Money.rexx" and is written with Arexx. It's about 94k is size so far and is about 90% completed (just the printing out of the various forms yet to be done). Since I'm running a little late in filing my return, I'm slowly getting motivated to finishing it :) I have no experience in programing other than jumping into learning Arexx, but it has been fun, tho somewhat time-comsuming (500 + hours). A few months ago in one of the local general computer rags, they had an article about the top 10 accounting programs - mostly ms-dos programs. All had several good points and of course, several bad ones. It's neat knowing that one can customize a program to meet ones needs at a moments notice. I'm trying to keep those 'bad points' to a minimun :) Since Arexx is now part of the new Amiga OS, I'm glad I got involved when I did (2 years ago). "Money.rexx" was made to make good use of the mouse. Some typing is required for when a purchase description is made (which makes sense). I guess the just of this article has to do with a user being un-satisfied with products currently available. At some point, ones frustration level is met and something has to be done. If this is the only major software project I get involved in, that's fine. It does take a fair amount of key-tapping, and I do have a photography - computer graphics business to run.

I have PHASAR 4.0. It works great except 3 problems: 1. It usually crashes when I try to update the Expenses list. Easy workaround though. One of these days, I should contact the company to complain about this. 2. It's Amiga-ized but still has some flavors of MSDOS world where it comes from. 3. Its graphic are very crude. I like it pretty well. Giao PS: I also heard of Home Front and Money Mentor.
