That's interesting. I was over at Syquest headquarters having them check out a cartridge (they have a very helpful tech-support group) and they were telling me that only they make the 44 meg cartridge for their drives. Several companies buy their drive mechanisms and put them in their own box with a power supply, and buy the cartridges and put them in their own labeled box. Are you saying someone else manufactures the cartridge? David...

I have put a SQ555 in my 5.25 drive space and have a 2090A. It works fine. Your prices seem reasonable although I thought I saw an ad somewhere for the low to mid 500's. There is a person seliling a used Sq555 with two cartridges in this conference for about $500. Good luck. David...

No, I think that other people (CMS, for example) offer SyQuest compatible drives (probably because they buy SyQuest mechanisms) and purchase carts and slap their own label on it, and of course drive the cost up a lot. This is the impression I gather from pricing cartridges made by other companies that work in SyQuest drives and asking how some of these places got their product to be SyQuest compatible. There might also be a standard...hmmm...
