On message <373@shrike.AUSTIN.LOCKHEED.COM> someone write: >I recently began having problems with the battery backed clock in my Amiga 500. >The clock is in my M501 512K memory expansion board from Microbiotics. I removed the M501 and checked >the voltage on the battery with my trusty voltmeter and got a reading of 4.25V. >Is this enough? Should it be 5V? Is my battery bad or is it something else? >I have owned the M501 and my Amiga for 2.5 years and have never had any > problemslike this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! >------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > vervalin@austin.lockheed.com >------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I don't know what kind of battery M501 uses, but if it has a NICAD battery, maybe you must to change them. According to Amazing Computing vol. 5 no. 6 (page 36), the life cycle of NICAD battery varies between 3-5 years. A501 expansion from Commodore uses this! In this article (a memory/clock board project) they use a lithium battery, because it doesn't need to be recharged, and the time life is aproximated 10 years. ================================================================================ ***** # Gelson Dias Santos # /\/\ ** # BITNET: GELSON@SBU.UFRGS.ANRS.BR # Please, don't look my / \-------\* # HOME: Av.
