[comp.sys.amiga] Call for discussion c.s.a. split-up

gsgi_ltd@uhura.cc.rochester.edu (Gregory Gibson) (10/13/90)

I use nn instead of rn. Saves me 75% of the time I used to spend reading
news.

If you really are going to split c.s.a. up this is the goal: to form
sub-groups containing information that groups of people don't care about
so they can leave them out of their .newsrc and I'll use myself as an
example here.

My thoughts:

1. we need a moderated c.s.a.announce (keep rumors out)

2. we need a misc, tech, games, unix, emulations, and
media (and split media up if you want I'd probably vote for that)

( Some people (like me) probably feel that they don't know enough for the
real tech stuff and may stay out of tech. I didn't like games and know
how postings regarding games can bug people (I like them more now) so I
expect a group of people would stay away from this group. Some people
may know what unix is but some don't care about it on their amiga becasue
they don't want a unix machine they like the amiga machine and their
curiosity of what the unix capabilities of the amigas can be handled by
the announce group, some people don't want to bothered by emulation talk,
and others don't care about media - you might want to split it up though
as I would read music but not graphics or sound. )

2. Combine c.s.a.hardware and c.s.a.tech - redefine them - my personal
questions relating to hardware problems are actually answered when I post
to c.s.a. Tech and hardware should be for more techinical discussions
(i.e which jumpers should I move or what is the difference between this
memory chip and that one whereas c.s.a.misc should have the basic - how
do I configure my hd for the bridgeboard or how do I set my panasonic
printer up. We all own amigas so we all know something about hardware -
that which we own and we should help each other out with the basic
questions.)

3. verbal, education, software, services and vendors should be grouped
under misc in my opinion because everyone most likely is somewhat
interested in the topics and the traffic (save software) is minimal.

4. futures should be *offical* and part of the c.s.a.announce group.

Thanks - I wanted to speak my mind. I appreciate others thoughts, I
always learn something.
