[net.general] referencing material off the net.

Does anyone have any idea what the correct format for referencing an article
from the net might be? (Never mind why I might what to reference some of this
stuff!)

Actually, I for one WOULD be interested in why someone would need to footnote
something from the net. Do you footnote your personal conversations too??

Isn't it a little hard to reference such an article? They are so transient.
Forgive my ignorance, but is there some place that all the articles are stored
forever (so a reader of your paper might read further, which is the purpose of
a footnote)?  (Sorry -- >A< purpose; the other is to lend verisimilitude.)
