Hello, As everyone has been so fond of telling me that the 68070 doesn't exist. Well all I can say is 'DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!'. The Signetics 68070 is *NOT* one in the series of 68x00. It is rather a take off from the 68000 chip. It Has a few extra I/O nick-nacks. As someone else has said, "It is a 68000 with a serial port." So please be sure that you know what you are talking about before mailing me and telling me it is a pipe dream or other such nonsense. I thought this subject had been covered thoroughly on USENET. If someone wants to throw their two-cents worth in about the 68070 please feel free. If you have more detailed information about the chip don't hesitate with that either as I don't have information in front of me at this moment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ======================================================================= ||NeXT- (nekst) N. Well, I have a couple of 68070's and know quite a bit about it. basically, take a 68000, add a MMU, a serial port, a I2C port {chip to chip serial interface}, 2 DMA channels, a timer, and glue logic and put in on one package and you got the Signetics 68070. They have version that go up to 15Mhz. It could have made a great Amiga CPU but for a few quirks. Not all the interupts lines are available. I believe you could get all but one of the interrupts outside the chip. Too bad there was no coproccesor support for the chip. Heck, what i wanted was almost exactly what the 68070 was. What I was wanting was a chip that was basically a 386sx version of the 68030 {32 bit chip on the inside but 16 bit access outside}. I also wanted 2 DMA channels and a serial interface similar or the same as the I2C interface. I keep hearing that Motorola was going to release a chip called the 68025 that would basically be a chip akin to the 386sx. Oh well.
