[comp.sys.amiga] New Macs versus Amiga/ST: ENOUGH!

ekrimen@csuchico.edu (Ed Krimen) (10/18/90)

I've been reading this Mac vs. ST/Amiga thing on comp.sys.amiga as
well as comp.sys.atari.st and it does nothing for either the Amiga or
ST markets. Even if, as someone mentioned on .amiga, Apple packaged
the VIC-20 in a new box, people would buy it. Why? Because people
know about it. You can't buy a computer, like the Amiga or ST, when
no one knows about it. I love it when people compare the computers:
"The Amiga/ST has this and that. If you add this to the Amiga/ST, you
can have a Mac IILS. If you add this to the IILS, you can have a
Amiga/ST." Here are some of the most selective people in the
computer market and they're telling people who already own Amigas/STs
how the new Macs measure up. The fact is, most of the purchasers of
these new computers don't even know this network exists -- and they
don't know and don't care that the Amiga/ST exists. They're going to
buy the new Macs because Apple says they're more affordable than the
old Macs, even though you still must sell your car.

Instead of pressuring each other on how the Macs measure up, how
about pressuring Commodore and Atari? We should worry more about
ourselves and our favorite computers' future than what the other guy
is doing (although we can still keep an eye on them :^) .

If you want to talk about the new Macs, take it to comp.sys.mac.
