A better description of the so-called "worm" would have more of a parasitic nature; I prefer leech. Or better yet - for you Twilight Zoners - how about the infamous earwig? The analogy seems appropriate - I will spare the graphic explanation.

My apologies to Twilight Zoners - the earwig is indeed a Night Gallery creation. It still seems to be an apropriate handle.

Rather than using "worm", which slanders the name of a humble but beneficial creature, or "leech", which refers to a parasitic creature that does its damage on the outside of its victim's body, why not use "maggot"? I can think of nothing that more accurately describes the immature parasites who thrive on vandalizing computer systems from the inside out. Furthermore, maggots successfully invade only those victims whose natural defenses are severely weakened or absent.
