BIT.MOVIE '91 - Competition for Computer Animation in Real Time
    ===============================================================

                                contact:
Carlo Mainardi via Bologna, 13 47036 Riccione Italy

In my capacity as managing director of the Adriatic Coast Am-
iga User Club I would like to inform the Amiga Folks about the
`Bit.Movie' show, that we will organize in April 25-28, 1991 at
the `Palace of Tourism' in Riccione (Italy).
In `Bit.Movie', that is a show about Computer Graphics, there
is a contest for computer animation in real time, rendered with
Personal Computer. This is the fourth edition of `Bit.Movie'.
Last year during the three days more than 2500 people visited
the exhibition. All these people saw thirty animation works
admitted to the final phase of the contest. The visitors re-
ceived a voting-paper and they freely indicated the three best
works. The winning animation `Waterchess' or Milko Mrsek
(Italy), at the end of the third day, gained 2285 points. The
second was `The Sentinel' of Bradley W. Schenck (USA).
The complete results till the ninth place:

              1. Waterchess 2285 points
              2. The Sentinel 2062
              3. Showcase 998
              4. Gabbia 829
              5. Waves 772
              6. Balls 431
              7. Atom 2 391
              8. Provini 301
              9. Istantanea animata 230

We invite you to enter Bit.Movie 1991, and to inform the
Amiga folks about the competition. The competition is the most
interesting part of the show, and the most important national
meeting of all people involved in Computer Graphics with the
    Amiga computer.

picture on disk that can be used for a photograph.
    4. All submissions must be sent to:

        via Bologna n. 13 - 47036 Riccione (Italy)
    5. A special commission will decide which works will be admit-
ted to the competition. The commission will give the prefer-
ence to the works that do not use public domain objects or
        backgrounds.
    6. Deadline for all materials is March 15, 1991.
    7. The winning animations will be selected by the show's atten-
dees and by a qualified panel, that will award two different
prizes. The authors of the animations admitted to the final
phase of the contest will receive a special plate of Bit.Movie
        1991.

                          PRIZE OF THE PANEL:

                First Prize 1,500,000 lira
                Second Prize 1,000,000 lira
                Third Prize 500,000 lira

                        PRIZE OF THE AUDIENCE:

                First Prize 1,500,000 lira
                Second Prize 1,000,000 lira
                Third Prize 500,000 lira

    =================================================================

Note by Brad Schenck: The actual dollar amounts of these prizes
will naturally depend on exchange rates for the dollar at the
time the prizes are awarded. In last year's case a 750,000 lira
prize was about $480 US. If exchange rates are similar, the 1991
prizes will apparently translate to nearly $1000 US in EACH first
    place division (Panel and Audience).
This contest appears to be quite an event; they produced a very
slick program booklet for last year's show. I believe I may have
been the only entrant from the USA, and they're hoping to attract
more of us for the 1991 contest.
