[comp.sys.amiga] How does DNET's NFS work?

greendog@max.physics.sunysb.edu (Michael D Fischer) (10/20/90)

I have been using DNET for quite a while now and am pretty happy
with it... but what is the "snfs" file in the unix dnet binary
directory, and how is it used? I don't see it mentioned in any
of the docs...

Thanks for any help..

Michael

It is a NFS server that Matt was apparently working on, but is not really
ready for production use I assume considering that it is not documented.
However, I have tried it and it seems to work OK, but I have not really
tested it that much.

At the moment I don't remember exactly what I did to use it, but I think
the standard dnet.servers fils is ready for it. You need to mount the
NFS:(?) handler on the Amiga side and run a command on the Amiga side.
Then you can access files on the Sun UNIX or other UNIX that supports NFS.
I learned most of this by looking at the code.

Maybe Matt can fill us in on more details or the status of his NFS server.
