[comp.sys.amiga] educational market and campus bookstores

I just would like to share the story of a Commodore victory in
little ol Fresno State, here in California. We have the typical bookstore
mentioned hundreds of times here on the net complete with Mac yuppies and
IBM drones. The bookstore pushed both machines, and that was what was
on the campus. Apple came several times a semester to show off new
equipement and demonstrate new gadgets and have drawings to win things
like t-shirts, bicycles, and water bottles. IBM even showed up a few
times to push the PS/2 line and had a drawing for a free one. The only
time in 3 years that commodore ever showed was for a graphix show, and they
really did a great job. They came off looking pretty well compared to
the mac demo which was targeted at desktop publishing.
BUT, things are rapidly changing. I am sitting here in a brand
new graphics lab the university is putting in. The lab is still in the
process of growing, but they already have 6 2500/030's with genlocks in
here and are promising a few a3000's and even a couple unix machines,
numerous digitizers and color printers and the whole 9 yards. Students
are coming in and checking out what Amiga has to offer, and are really
enjoying what they see. So what? you say. The nearest authorized
distributer is how many miles away? Right now, 4. In about 2 or so
weeks our bookstore which has told me for 2 yeas now that they would
never carry commodore products are adding Amiga's to their product line.
The whole dang art department is going crazy over these things, and even
the Sun enthusiasts are giving them high marks.

Look out Mac. Watch your back IBM. Amiga is here!!!
