[comp.sys.amiga] Need recommendations for Disk Copy Programs

richardc@sands1.swbt.com (Richard Cavin) (09/25/90)

I need some recommendations on programs to copy my Amiga games. My setup
is an Amiga 500 (1.3 rom - 1 meg) with an external 3.5 drive. I am looking
for the most effective disk copy program (software or hardware) to copy
my original game disks. It is really aggravating to not be able to copy
my original disks (yes, I know about pirating software). Games I currently
have are Flood, Drakkhen, It Came from the Desert, Populus, DM, Bloodwych,
Gauntlet II, Dragons Lair, Battle Squadron, Space Ace and Shadow of the Beast.
My greatest interest would be a program or device that would let me copy
Drakkhen, DM and Bloodwych mainly because I play these the most. In fact
I have nightmares about the day my Drakkhen character disk somehow gets
damaged. I'm new to the Amiga but not new to PCs. I am willing to buy
a commercial product with the knowledge that it will work in most cases
and is fully supported by the manufacturer.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

There are a number of programs and you can see the best advertized in
most of the magazines. Look in AmigaWorld, as there are a lot to be seen there
ie.,Project D or hardware wise The Syncro Express. I agree it is very annoying
not be able to backup disks and I'm a firm believer in manual keyword, wheels,
etc. as a means of protection.
        Good luck!

I suggest Project D by Fuller Computer systems.
It's very easy to use. You select from a long list the name of the
software you want to copy and it does it. I don't have the time to
try all of the different tricks with some of the copy programs out
there to get a working copy of my disks. Heck it even copies other
copy programs.
Fuller has regular updates to the parm list of files it knows how
to copy. You just send in your original disk (no matter what version)
and $7.50 and they send you the new version. It also has options
to let you try your hand at making a copy of programs not in it's
parm file list.

I've called Fuller a few times with questions and they have been
very helpful with questions and seem excited about their product.
I like that.

BTW: I'm not connected with Fuller Computer systems in anyway,
just a happy customer.
