Re: Carrier Command

The easiest way to take out an enemy island is to load up a Manta (plane)
with 8 missiles (3 each on the wings, 2 in the center) and fly it right
toward the Command Center of that island. Let them fly; if you're lucky,
you can get your plane back to the carrier. It may take more than 8 missiles
so load up a 2nd Manta in case. Once the CC is destroyed, you'll get a message
that "<ISLAND> is now a neutral island!" and you can send in a tank with a
CC module to make it your own.

This is not the best way; a Virus bomb will take over the island to be your
own and will not destroy the island's current production (as the former
method, quick & dirty, will). However, deploying a Virus bomb is TOUGH.

You can also back the carrier as close as it'll get to the shore where the
CC is, and use the missiles, but it's a lot faster to use the Mantas, and,
in this game, speed is of the essence--the enemy carrier is a LOT faster than
you are...The Action Game, BTW, is simply the Strategic Game after about 3
hours of play. The Strategic Game is where the reaal fun is...

Dave Severa's Hint Disk for Shadowgate (recommended if you got stuck) also
has a hint file for Carrier Command, in which he tells how to beat the game.
Just go to an island that is enemy controlled, and preferably central to
several paths. Make it neutral or your own. Then go offshore and wait.
After a bit, the enemy carrier will show up. Make your way toward it, and
(I have *NOT* tried this) about 10 laser cannon shots will destroy the enemy
carrier. Believe it or not. Then, of course, you can go all over the map,
making the enemy islands all yours, or you can quit...

Or so he said...
