My wife wants me to get a home-use database. Nothing really exotic - just addresses, personal info, etc. Her immediate purpose is to extract addresses for labeling Christmas cards. I may eventually use it to classify/manipulate my research datafiles. dBase compatibility is not really required. I know nothing about databases. Does anybody have any recommendations? Currently under consideration: SuperBase Personal: Cheap, multifile database. Claims to do most ordinary jobs. (The upgrade, SBP2, just seems to add an editor and a comm program. Why bother?) MicroFicheFiler Plus: More expensive and flat file, but has a cute interface and an ARexx port. Obvious question: Is anything seriously wrong with SBP? Is MFF+ really a significant step up? Is there something else I should look at instead? Reduce net clutter: EMail your response! Ross Bogue rb@maxwell.physics.purdue.edu pur-ee!pur-phy!rb

Since there seems to be somewhat of a growing database interest around here (starting with my database post around a month ago and the two recent posts), is there any interest in a mailing list for those of us working on database projects for the Amiga? If so, E-mail me and we can work out the details among ourselves. -- Greg Stelmack -- Email: stelmack@sol.csee.usf.edu -- USmail: USF Box 1510, Tampa, FL 33620-1510 -- Amiga: the only way to compute! -- IRAQNOPHOBIA: Nothing a little RAID wouldn't cure!
