I've been looking to add a decent printer to my hardware setup, and the HP Inkjets seem to fit the ticket. I use WordPerfect, since it's easily the best word processing package for the Amiga. Now, can I hook up an Inkjet to my machine? ----- Bitnet: aaw151@uriacc.bitnet | Andy Patrzio ARPA: aaw151%uriacc.bitnet@brownvm.brown.edu | Box 705 Ellery Hall Internet: aaw151@uriacc.uri.edu | URI Usenet: simon@sbs.bbs.com | Kingston, RI 02881 ...or...: andypo@idsvax.ids.com | (401) 782-2758 ----- "Only Apple could slow down the 68000 processor" - Computer Shopper ------

Yes, you can. I just bought myself an HP Inkjet and have had pretty good results with it. There are two types of printers you can hookup, the serial and parallel port types. Mine is the rarer serial port one. The only problem is that my serial port is also used for my modem and a midi interface, so without passthroughs on the devices, you have to shutdown the computer when you want to use a different device. Maybe my next purchase will be a switchbox.

There are two types of printers you can hookup, the serial and My DeskJet (original) came with BOTH CEntronincs (parallel) and RS232 (serial) ports as standard equipment. I believe the subsequent DeskJet models are also confiigured this way. I use the standard CBM DeskJet driver, although I hear there are second party drivers that are very nice. DISCLAIMER: I don't work for the part of HP which makes printers of any kind. I just ues HP printers are home and at work. I like them. HP doesn't even give me a pat on the back for recommending their printers. Dave S. ----------
