[comp.sys.amiga] Does bug still exist in 2.0?

richmo_c@bilby.cs.uwa.oz.au (Craig Richmond) (11/02/90)

In version 1.2 of Workbench an amusing way of filling in the afternoon
was creating two drawers. Then you open both of them. Place each
drawer icon in the other drawer. Then if you close both drawers, you
will never see either of them again! Has anybody with a 3000
tried this with 2.0. I don't have my amiga handy, but I am pretty sure
1.3 did it as well.

Thanks
Craig

   A3000/25 - kickstart 2.01 (36.143/36.68)

You cannot do this in ram disk. It reports that the other drawer
(in wich you copied the first one) is in use. You CAN do this in
an HD partition, and it will practically hanged the system (infinite
loop?). The mouse sprite for instance will be slowed down to an halt.
You must reboot. HD validates ok. This is a bug and have been post
to commodore.

   Daniel.

There is another bug in 1.3, this one a little more nasty. I call it the
"Other screen window bug" To activate it, run another screen, go back to workbench and set up a
window with a drag bar, or resize gaget on it. Now grab either the resize gadgetor the dragbar. press "amiga+n, or amiga+m", now move the mouse about on the
other screen. There is no location checking! Which means that you can make
negitave window sizes, or put a window partially off screen (if the system
does not crash that is)

This is the favorite bug of several people I know. It has been fixed in
2.0.
