[comp.sys.amiga] Looking for Dale Schlott, Author of Michtron's FastFax software.

chymes@zug.csmil.umich.edu (Charles Hymes) (11/12/90)

If you could, could you cross post this message to BIX and Genie?
there is a good chance that Dale Schlott has an account on one of
those services.

The FastFax's software that I have is buggy, and I need to get it
fixed or replaced. Michtron is out of business, and it seems that the
author is my only hope of getting this thig to work right.

I recently purchased a FASTFAX FAX modem, for my amiga computer,
and I am having problems with it. MichTron, the manufacturer of the
FASTFAX system, has gone out of business.

I am unable to receive faxes, because the machine often errors in
receiving a fax, then refuses to let one try again. Here is what
happens:

FASTFAX answers ok, and often receives the first page ok,
but it always hangs on second page.
then, the carrier detect light stays on, even after it hangs up the
phone line, and then you call again, the fax refuses to answer the phone

Also, the scheduler dosen't work. The first Item I schedule seems to
be OK but clicking "schedule" on more than one destination, or any
following destinations, brings up a large requester on the workbench saying:

DISK ERROR binsert 3

Of course, I have NO IDEA what that means. I believe that I might have
a bad version of the software, as theses bugs are so obvious that its hard
to imagine the product is shipped normally like this. The serial number
on the disk is 1017. If you could send me a new disk, without these problems,
I would like that. If necessary, I will pay for shipping.

Also, I need some technical information on the fax modem itself. I
know it was manufactured by Digital Data Systems Inc, and it is model 9600
FASTFAX, serial number 89420065. I need to know the native command set, what
parameters can be changed and how, the jumper settings, all that
stuff.

Thank you.
