Hello, I am not meaning to be discourteous or a pain, but, as a new user of Internet, I am curious as to one certain rule. IN all the documentation I have read about Internet, and all the associated networks, it is stated that the NUMBER ONE misuse of the system is commercial advertising, and that those that do so should be reported. Now, I could care less either way, but is this rule in effect, and if so, is it enforced? The only thing that prompted this is that I DO see a lot of advertising on this list and others... Tony

The no advertising rule is enforced using community pressure. However, there is a fine line between advertising, which is frowned upon, and "discussing the technical merits of your product," which seems to be OK. In short, the rule is against vacuous advertising. lee

Since I am very new to this net, I was wondering if I can mention commercial articles here? A friend of mine has designed and is marketing a complete line of amiga and peripheral bags. All bags look nice, protect the Ami quite nicely, and conform to airline carry-on baggage regulations. This posting wouldn't benifit me financially, just wondering if I can post it. - Mathew Pierce
