[comp.sys.amiga] Porting g++

dolfing@cs.utwente.nl (Hans Dolfing) (11/12/90)

Hello everybody,

I'am interested in object-oriented programming and currently working with AT&T C++
and Borland Turbo-C++. Now, I interested in porting g++ to the Amiga, because this
seems to be much better than the existing Lattice C++.
Before starting, I would like to know if somebody has already done this
(or started with it).

	Greetings, Hans Dolfing (dolfing@cs.utwente.nl)

   I have heard a lot of news on c.s.a lately about porting Project GNU's
version of the C++ compiler: g++. Having wrestled with version 1.37.2 quite
a bit in the last months trying to implement several language extensions, I
can tell you not to get your hopes up. g++ needs gcc to work which is about
4 MEGS of source code, g++ itself is made up of about 2.5 MEGS of source code.
	Even though there is a rumor of an upcoming release of a PD port of
gcc this does not imply that a port of g++ will ever follow. As we all know
just about everything is possible on an Amiga, but realistically one will have
to wait till the relase of UNIX on the Amiga.

PS: Do you *REALLY* need your .signature for every message?
IE: Do I *REALLY* need to look at hundreds of lines of .signature at 2400 baud?
