Hi all, I have started trying to port the NCSA HDF library routines to the Amiga. For those of you who don't know (and care) HDF is a file format for storing scientific data sets and images. The purpose of the format is to allow easy exchange of scientific data in a consistent format. The data is then portable across different machine types (as I understand it). The code is pretty much generic C and I haven't had to change much of it. There are a few bugs (well, one that I know of) that have shown up that I have not been able to resolve. This is probably due to my meager knowledge of C in general and the SAS compiler specifically. If you are interested in this, please reply to gerber@rigel.astro.uiuc.edu. I will gladly make the source available and just as eagerly accept any help. (The source is available from NCSA anyway, but not with the few changes I had to make to get it to compile with SAS C 5.10 :-) Thank, Richard Gerber Physics Graduate Student University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gerber@rigel.astro.uiuc.edu

I write: [deleted] Aha, here's the orginal note I tried to post but didn't get out. One wonders where these things go for 8 days before they appear. Anyway, I was pleased with the number of responses I got to my original (which was a repost) article. If you tried to send me mail and have not heard from me, try again now. My .forward file got messed up and some mail bounced. I'll keep everyone up to date on this project.
