I read something today that (if true) could be good news for ReadySoft
(The makers of AMAX)
From InfoWorld, Vol 12, Issue 45 (Nov 12):
SPARC LAPTOP WILL RUN UNIX, MAX, DOS
LAS VEGAS - A Sparc-clone laptop that can also run Macintosh
and DOS software will be enveiled this week at Comdex,
according to the developer.
The 13 1/2 pound Brite Lite, designed by RDI Inc. of
San Diego, is the first Sparc laptop designed for the U.S.
[...stuff deleted...]
Sun OS 4.1 is bundled with the product, as is Insignia
Solutions' SoftPC for MS-DOS emulation. The Macintosh
environment emulation, developed by RDI, uses no Mac ROM code,
and no licensing from Apple is required.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If I were ReadySoft, I'd call RDI *today*, and work out a license
agreement. They could then create a new version of AMAX which would
not require Mac ROMs, (which Apple is no longer selling except to
repair Macintoshes)
