[comp.sys.amiga] A500 HD sale, last chance, + memory expansion

antunes@ASTRO.PSU.EDU (Sandy Antunes) (11/16/90)

Hello!
Okay, first, last chance on
64meg Seagate drive + case + power (and fan) + CLtd controller + cables + software,
asking $500 for it now, will take less, by monday will let the best offer have it.
If you just need the drive, not the controller, I will take less, and vis versa.
I will also swap hardware and/or software as part of the deal if need be.

In other matters, I did a hunt for memory expansion for my A500. One of
the best choices is the AdRam board, which is low cost, easy to expand
(in sets of 512K), costs under $250 for the board and 2 megs.
Other people have recommended the Baseboard, however, the mail order place
I use said that was unavailible because they'd switched to the AdRam...
I don't know why.
The best way to expand if you have a hard drive, though, is inside the controller
because then you 1) don't have to mess with the Gary chip, and 2) apparently
the A500 was designed for all expansion mem to be added through the expansion
bus.
The SupraRam board is therefore a good alternative if you want to be safe with
hardware/software compatibility. However, it then means you are using a
pass-thru on the expansion bus if you need to add anything in later.
No one who wrote me really commented on too many other systems. Hope this helps.
