I am trying to set up a video lab and would like any information you Gentle Readers of this bboard can provide. The basic application is to digitize video sequences, process them in software that we write, and do frame by frame animation to a VCR or recordable laserdisc. My ideal digitizer/frame buffer would do the following: - 24 bits per pixel - high resolution (640 x 480 is nice because of the square pixels, however other resolutions can be accommodated) - NTSC, Y/C, RGB in and out. (We have a RGB camera and are planning to get high quality storage.) - Multitasking and ARexx control. I want to automate the whole process. - Genlockable. Are there any products that meet these goals? I know of the following: - Mimetic Framebuffer/grabber. Everything except Y/C, RGB in and out. - Digiview. No frame buffer, no 24 bit out, hard to control. - Targa+, Bridgeboard, and ImageLink software. Should do everything, but kludgy? Also expensive, but under consideration. - Toaster. Unknown. Can I get RGB in and out? Can I just use it as a frame grabber and display under control of an ARexx script? - Impulse Firecracker. Doesn't digitize, right? But interesting display board. Has RGB outputs. Is there anything I have missed? Thanks, Charlie <boncelet@udel.edu>
