[net.general] inquiring about speech recognition and translation systems

alee@utcsrgv.UUCP (Alison Lee) (01/18/84)

We would like to get recommendations for vendors that sells speech
recognition and translation systems. We have very little information
of what is available. We are interested in both board level or system
level products. Currently, we only know about the products put out
by VOTAN (Fremont CA) and would like to hear about what else is available.
TI reportedly had a board (SPSB3001) based on their signal processing
chip TMS320. However, after checking with their semiconductor group,
I was told that this is no longer available.

Our basic requirements are:
	1. voice recognition (speaker dependent and/or speaker independent)
	2. voice response
	3. voice store and forward
	4. capability to perform analog-digital conversion, and vice versa.

We would like to hook it up to our SUN workstation (68010, 4.2 UNIX).

Please send information directly to me and I will post the information
if there is any interest.
