[net.general] Millions of Americans found torchured... A CURE!

I've been reading some horror stories about (that busline whose
namesake is a large, white hunting dog) and how terrible rides lasting
even only 2 hours were. Well, folks, Amtrak is fantastic. I took
a 14 hour trip from Davis, CA to Portland, OR on the 8th of January and
loved every minute of it. I've had the pleasure of riding on German
and French railroads, but there was something Amtrak had that the others
didn't. First of all Amtrak's cars have two levels, which made walking
around on the train a little more interesting. Secondly the seats were
more comfortable than those found on European trains. I had the luck
of having two seats to myself, so I propped up the two footrests and
managed to stretch all the way out and enjoy the trees whipping past the
window. Granted, the train did not travel very fast (a car could have made
the trip in 11 or 12 hours), but being able to lounge as comfortably as
I did, while listening to a Bach string concerto on my Walkman, made up
for that factor.
The cost was only about $20 more than going by bus, but from
what I've read I think it was worth it! So hop on the train, folks!
Amtrak will die if no one does; then we'll REALLY be missing something!
