[comp.sys.amiga] TheA64Package V1.01n

paul@wa1omm.UUCP (Paul MacDonald) (11/12/90)

Has anyone else out there failed to get the A64 Package V1.01n running
on their Amiga 2000? I have had no luck. The author is perplexed. If
anyone else is having a problem, it would help in debugging the problem.
Thanks.

I have it running on my A1000/with a Hurricane board. Haven't
received the 1541 interface yet so I can't test out 64 software,
but it runs the basic demo program ok. BTW, how does one escape
a basic program with the A1000 keyboard. Nothing seemed to have
worked except for the magical 3finger salute.

A64 v1.01 is still missing the "A64" font, along with a couple of the
utilities. And will whoever posted it, use zoo instead of
lharc so the disk directory structure can be preserved for the
next release.

Be aware that A64 still won't run on a 3000. It is supposed to run on
an 68x00 equipped machine, but the author admitted that he was
having problems with the A3000.

Great documentation for the thing, BTW.

Any opinions are my own since nobody else would ever want them.

I've "sort of" got it running on my A2000. It's pretty much stock except for
3MB (that's NOT three Marc Barretts :-)) of RAM. I say "sort of" because
I've only run the color demo that came with it. I've yet to get some real
64 software and perhaps a C64 disk drive.

Ok, hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion.

APerfect.ZIP wiil only run on a 68000
A101n.lzh will run on the 680x0 microprocessors.

Both of these can be found on abcfd20.larc.nasa.gov in the incoming directory.

A101n.lzh will run on the 3000 but has to be ran from workbench 1.3 not 2.0

To escape a program via run stop retore just type ESCAPE and the HELP key at the
same time.

I am also wondering if anyone knows of a ftp site where I can find some 64
software to test the emulator with. IF so then please either leave me some
EMAIL (Preferably) or respond though the NET and hopefully I can catch
the message.

Thanks,
Pat

Yes, i have the 1541 interface and things, though a little slow at timesseem to run pretty smoothly. Yes, the ability to hit the two alt keys, flip the screen and carry on with something else is definitely something that the other c64 emulators have been missing.

I'm just looking forward to the propsed option of being able to use the humble 1541 as an amiga device. Just the sort of thing i need for HD backups considering the number of unused 5 1/4 disks that I've got lying around.

As for resets. There is a list of alternate keys in the manual, and though I can't remember them offhand, i know that they are there somewhere
