[comp.sys.amiga] Help!!!

gay%elde.epfl.ch@cunyvm.cuny.edu (David Gay) (01/01/89)

Could somebody send me (quickly!) a copy of the latest version (> 2.0) of Matt's

backup/restore program ? I have version 2.00 which creates the files in the curr
ent directory, and a hard disk to restore ...

Thanks in advance !
(I'm writing an AREXX script to restore the files one by one, but I fear that it
 will be dreadfully slow ...)

Well I did it. After hearing me mumble under my breath for the
last few months about "better than a macintosh", "better than a pc"
and "emulates both", my boss has finally consented to look at buying
one. PROBLEM: The first words he mumbled on the subject were "documentation
of features."

Where can I find out:

AMAX:
	1) Does Amax support appletalk
	2) What kind of drive does one buy with amax
	   to get mac compatibility
	3) Can amax use amiga harddrive?
	4) Can it run MSword, PowerPoint, Excel?
	5) Where/how much are the roms?

The 80286 board:
	1) What's it called?
	2) Does it run *all* pc programs?
	3) Can it use the amiga harddriver?
	4) Can it use the amiga 3.5" drive as a 720K PC drive?
	   (If not, wadoIdo?)

The 68020/030 boars:
	1) What's out there that works with both Amax and the PC-board?
	2) Is it worth getting either?

RAM:
	1) Who sells 32-bit ram that would work with those things?

PLEASE, I know how to get a hold of Amigaworld/Computer Shopper,
but I need this information yesterday, and since this seems to
be one of the more tech-informed newsgroups I could use the
	help :)

Yesterday, I was running dmouse, dLineart (a screen saver), clock and
Handshake all at the same time on my Amiga 2000. It was mutitasking
perfectly for quite some time. Then suddenly, the monitor blanked out. I
thought it was just a software guru. But it was more than that!!

I tried to boot the system several times after that but to no avail. The
computer just simply refused to do a warm boot or a cold boot.(ie the
computer did not prompt me to insert the Workbench disk and the monitor was
blank. However, I did notice that the power indicators for both the
computer and the monitor were on.)

Today, I made one last try to boot the system. And surprisely, it
worked but only for some time. And after that, it got the same old problem
again ie the monitor just blanked out and no booting is possible after that.

What is the problem with my system? Does it have something to do with
the hardware or the softwares that was running?

Anyone out there who knows the rectification to my problem. Please
e-mail me at the u/m account. Thanks.
