[comp.sys.amiga] Are midterms over, Brian White?

gow@sakari.mrceg (Ed Gow) (11/27/90)

In your posting of 19 October you said that you'd answer questions
"after midterms". I hope they're over and that they went well.

I'm looking for info on the TC070. New info on the MM1 would also be
appreciated. For the TC070, I'd like to know about the K-bus, what is
it like?? Also, what software is included with the computer and at
what price?

The info that I can offer is this. I talked with Microware, makers of
OS-9, and learned that they get many requests for a POSIX system call
library. They will decide about this in January. My view on this is
that the UN*X boxes on the market (including the A3000UX) are too
expensive for my tastes and for much of the home market. A POSIX
compatible OS-9 machine could be a kind of "baby UN*X" for us poor
folk. Microware already offers a UN*X comaptibility library, so this
should be a relatively small step. I hope that the MM/1 and TC070
marketing people will take this tack instead of trying only for the
untapped "CoCo user who wants to move up" market.

I'm also interested in the mutual emulation possibilities of MM/1 and
Amiga. I have only spent a little time looking at the 66470 VSC docs,
but it looks as though it and the Amiga custom chips are comparable.
