Does anyone know the significance of the flashing CAP LOCK when the
machine is switched on ?

Thanks for any help

"STARTUP-SEQUENCE NOTES
 CAPS LOCK L.E.D. FLASH

One Flash means the keyboard ROM failed
Two flashes mean the keyboard RAM failed
Three flashes mean the 'watchdog' timer failed
Four flashes means a short exists between two row lines or on one of the seven
special keys.

These flahses come in short bursts with a short interval between them. The LED
comes on briefly during self-test; if it goes off and stays off then all is
well. You only need become concerned if the boot fails and you see the LED
flashing in one of the above sequences."...

I believe this is an indication that the keyboard has failed its self
test on startup. My 2000 does this periodically. Usually if I leave
it off for a while (15-45 minutes) it fixes itself. The problem usually
only occurs for me when I turn the machine off then back on again after
too short a wait.

it means you have a keyboard failure. You might have a loose connection
or something inside your computer. I had this problem before on an A500
and reseated my A501 card and it worked fine for some reason, but I know
that the flashing led on power up is caused by a keyboard failure.

It`s no major problem, i think its just when the keyboard processor and the CPU
get out of sync. Its used to happen to mine if i switched my amiga on and off
too fast.
