[comp.sys.amiga] Super Denise is on sale now.

Okay, I can confirm this.
Charlies Computer Repair Shop has the new Super Denise chip for $50.40
Australian. Now the questions:

1) Can I support the VGA modes of the Super Denise from WB1.3?
2) How?
3) What is the required cable to connect the VGA monitor to the
   amiga monitor port.
4) If 3) requires a hack-it-yourself, what are the pinout connections
   required?
5) Is the new chip pin compatible with the old in an A500 Rev5.0 with
   the 1Meg Agnes installed.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Regards Alan

G'day,

The new ECS Super Denise is form factor compatible with the Denise chip
in the A1000 as I found out by asking this question on the net sometime
ago. A Commodore US engineer (on the VLSI team I think) responded that
it is not compatible signal wise. I suppose this is analogous to Agnus
differences b/w the 2Meg Agnus in the 3000 and the 1Meg Super Agnus ...
in that they may be pin compatible but you can't plug the 2 Meg'er into
your 2000 and get the new functionality.

E vero?

Perhaps the above means that the new Super Denise would not work on old
A500's?

yours truly,
Lou Cavallo.

PS: I kind of expect most A1000 owners wouldn't have expected to have
been able to use the new Super Denise...

Btw for those that can use it is it usable without the new Super Agnus?

No. Support for the new graphics modes is in 2.0.
