[comp.sys.amiga] MessyDOS problems HELP!

mdg1@engr.uark.edu (Michael D. Glover) (12/04/90)

Hello netters!
I am having trouble setting MessyDOS up on my system. I have placed all the
correct files in the right places (I think) and MessyDOS drives are
apparently being mounted, but for some reason any file I copy to a Messy
disk is seen as a directory (as well as any files on the disk previously).
Has anyone else had this problem? I am running a 2000HD with two 3-1/2
drives, if that is of any consequence.

Please send E-mail and I will post a follow-up if I get any replies.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've had the same problem. Everything seems to work great but the files are
just directories. anybody able to help?

Yeah! it's the 'Dir' command doesn't like Messy-Dos.

try 'List', and read the documentation, I think its in there somewhere.

James: I used both list and dir. Both listed them as directories. I
couldn't copy the files onto a regular disk or in to ram. The error was
something like cant open file. I will try it again and see what's up. I did
get it to work a few times, but lately it hasn't been working...

Somebody Else told me they had problems but they fixed it by
	ftp-ing a newer version from a newer fish-disk.

Some of the problems that I have had have been to do with
formatting the disks. IBM machines don't seem to like messy-formatted
disks very much ( at least in a 2Mbyte drive ) so I have been
formatting them in the higher density drive with no problems.

The only thing that annoys me about this software is that when
the messy device decides it doesn't like a (AmigaDos) disk it
bring up a requester that has to be killed.

I have mine running on one drive.
