[comp.sys.amiga] Emacs 0.8 and the 3000

kutem@motcid.UUCP (Jon Kutemeier) (12/01/90)

Has anyone else been able to get Emacs 0.8 to work on
an Amiga 3000? I've tried it in both 2.0 and 1.3 modes,
and neither works. I have 2 meg chip ram and 4 meg
fast. Any suggestions?

Similarly, has anyone got this Emacs running on an A2000? I've tried
everything I can think of but nothing works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I've got it working on my A2000 and a friends A500 no problems at all.

Thanks to all who offered their advice. I got the thing working finally,
and with the full compliment of LISP stuff loaded. I'm not sure what was
wrong but it might have been the stack. I set it to 10000 and I have no
problems now.

The only question I have is...why is it so big? One accidental ^X^C and
you're staring a full re-load in the face! I wonder if there's a way to
make the core of the program resident? That way all you would do is mount
the emacs core and then attach editor shells to it. Is there a way to do
this sort of thing in AmigaDOS?

Thanks again for all the help,
