There has been much flying about the net about A590s trashing $0. I have a A500 + A590(rev 6.0 roms) running 1.3. Sure adding the 590 made the machine far more useful but, like most things in life, it's a case of good news and bad news. Loading some games or xcopy causes some errors in the images presented. Some games exhibit vertical black bars through the image while xcopy2.2 just has a little area of crap on the screen but in each case they run fine. Loading some virus checkers just causes the machine to hang or guru. Will the latest roms ( 6.1 I expect ) help? Just what do the latest roms fix over my 6.0 ones? I have also heard of an A590_fix.lzh but know nothing of its contents or origin, or indeed where to get it. I hope and expect it to be a patch to the driver. Can someone please sort all this out. All the little fragments of info I've picked up don't add up to a clear picture of what's going on. Thanks in advance, Greg Palmer. (G.Palmer@qut.edu.au)

to fix the $000000 trashing problem, go to your HD toolbox and select the "partition drive" option. then go to advanced options and click on update filesystem. You will get a requester that says something like FastFileSystem version 0 (I don't recall this exacly... it's been a while since I've done this). Anyway, change that 0 to 1 and then save the changes. This will get rid of any problems that you might have been having. This fix was suggested to me here on the net a few months back, and ever since I've done it, I haven't had any problems what so ever. Bo Najdrovsky UUCP: uunet!att!occrsh!attcc!ulab!bn
