Some time ago I remember seeing a gag screensaver called "melt" that created the illusion of a melting screen. My guess is that it worked by creating a bitmap containing a copy of current video memory, used it as a screensaver "windowshade," then "melted" the image in the bitmap copy. I'm pretty curious about how this was done, and am looking for the source code. If anyone knows of similar programs for other bitmapped systems, pointers to their source code would also help. Pointers to anonymous ftp or mail server sites would be most convenient, though I won't turn any info away. Since I expect a lot of people have information, PLEASE SEND E-MAIL. I will post a summary of responses if there is sufficient demand.
