Hello all! I received a rather in-depth query that I cannot answer since I don't have a 3000. Please help me out and send me some topics. (This will be >out in early January too.) Here is a long one for you: I'm going to purchase A3000/16 instead of my other choice for Mac IIsi which I can get for a very good price too. So I'm buying AMaxII to feed my need, and hopefully can run SoftPC/AT/EGA on it, can I? 1. Does AMaxII runs well on an A3000/16 and A3000/25, and take advantage of the 68030/6888x? What resolution gives the best aspect ratio, 640x400, 640x480 productivity mode, 640x512 PAL mode? 2. SoftPC/AT/EGA how well it runs on AMaxII? speed on both A3000? Since there is no FDHD/Superdrive supported on the AMaxII, is there any method to access MS-DOS disc directly? I know SoftPC has a file to support a connection to a PC serially, and take over the PC's floppy drive to use for. Rapport makes an interface on the floppy port to make 800K drive to read/ write 720K MS-DOS disk, does it work on AMaxII? During printing on PRT1: on MS-DOS under SoftPC, Mac puts it to serial port? since Mac has no parallel port, but AMax can put the Mac serial back to the Amiga parallel port, is anything lost in between? 3. For printing, I have a Deskjet Plus, hooked up to the parallel port. But under AMaxII, I want to use ATM to get better results on the Mac side. Since it is not a Quickdraw printer, I will try to use MacPrint to the Deskjet Plus, it seems to work fine on real Macs according to comp.sys.mac .misc reports, BUT DOES IT WORK UNDER AMAXII AND PARALLEL PORT?? summary: appl. + ATM + MacPrint => serial-parallel emulation on AMaxII => Deskjet Plus there are some called Jetlink Express printer drivers for Mac , and some names I forgot. 4. The ultimate is to have a floppy driver on AMaxII to read/write MS-DOS disk on Amiga drives, and also utilized by SoftPC!! 5. Before AMax II plus is out, I want to hide the AMaxII cartridge and the Mac 800K external drive into the A3000. Before I do that, I want to find out if I buy a Mac compatible 800K INTERNAL drive to put in, can I wire the connector easily, I mean as long as the signals and wires are available, I don't mind to solder a few wires to the ext. socket. is it mountable nicely in A3000 front empty drive bay? I also would put a cable and plug on the ext. floppy drive socket and run it thru a empty slot window (opened, partly). I wonder if mounting an external drive is as easy and nice inside (by some posting it was done), and drive price is about the same : $150. 6. Can I set the colour on AMaxII automatically to b/w as a b/w Mac when AMaxII is boot (I don't want to change WorkBench colour, though I know it is one method)? that's all now, and my account is expiring on Dec. 31,1990, and I won't have another account until end of Jan unless I can get another one by early Jan, so I hope I can catch the results. Thank you so much, I need all that since I'll be using a lot of Mac appls on productivity stuff, and math/science stuff. thanks again, David Tse -- /*****************************************************************************/ /* David Tse Internet: coxc0011@ucselx.sdsu.edu (expire 12/31/90) */ /* U.S. Mail: P.O.
