[comp.sys.amiga] comp.binaries.amiga???

What happened to The AMIGA binaries group? NOTHING ever comes out of there. I
know there are alot of things that could be going through there right now.
Namely: MED, Tobias Star Trek, etc... Yea with FTP it isn't alot of use, but
isn't it made for those without FTP? And you ftp users can just get rid of it
on the news group list of your system if you don't want binaries, but I am
dissapointed that the traffic has been little to none in there.

How do I upload to the binary newsgroup? I will gladly do so if someone
explains how. I know I would probably have to use NEWZAP or AZ to do it.

Not true. While not much has appeared there recently (where recently
is <= 7 days), the binaries for LOME 1.1 were posted Nov 29...

People without direct access to the Internet can use the BITFTP server
to retrieve files (mail `help' to bitftp@pucc.princeton.edu for info).

However, this isn't the reason the code groups have been quitet recently...
(and it's not even a good excuse...)

So am I. I've even had opportunity to post stuff. Wanna know what
the problem is? Disk space. Rather, the lack of it...

Yep. The Amiga code groups are archived on the same disk where /amiga
and /incoming/amiga are stored. That disk is full (well, there's
about 1M left).

Until I figure out a nice way to free up some disk space, I can't post
anything to the code groups because there's no space to archive them.

Before you (all) send me suggestions on how to free up disk space, let
me mention that ``delete stuff that hasn't been accessed recently'' or
``delete stuff that was uploaded long ago'' won't work since the atime
and mtime on the archived files are unreliable due to reasons I won't
go into here...

Nope -- it's going to take a lot of elbow grease to clean up the disk...
And until then, nothing can appear in the code groups...

Hmmm, perhaps you could delete dual copies of different versions of
software? (rather delete the older version)
