[comp.sys.amiga] WShell/ConMan 2.0 compatible update enclosed

blgardne@javelin.es.com (Blaine Gardner) (12/13/90)

The WShell/ConMan 2.0 compatible update file is included below, don't
read any further if you're not interested.

Flame me if you must, but first listen to the details, ok? I've had
numerous requests for the AmigaOS 2.0 compatible WShell update.
Unfortunatly there is some severe brain damage in the new systems here,
and though news flows quickly and rapidly in both directions, only
incoming e-mail work. Everything I've tried to send out is being eaten
whole. This little problem of mine, combined with the small size of the
update archive, and the number of requests has prompted me to post the
update. It's only 8K uuencoded, so here it is:

Have you or anyone else heard of a 2.0 Compatable SKsh shell for the
Amiga 3000 in particular? I set the version 1.6 up on the 3000 and it
ran the first time. The next time I tried to run it it crashed. I
repeated the whole installation process and it crashed again. I did this
about 5 times trying to isolate just what the problem was but could not.
I set it up fine doing the same things on the 1.3 version of Workbench.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I must do to run this from 2.0?

Thanks in advance,

Pat

Its problem is not with 2.0, but with the 68030 and the A3000. Sksh
works with my '020 and 2.0. I have access to a 2500/30 and an a3000. I
can only 'see' one problem with Sksh on the 2500/30 & that is that the
formatted output from the builtin 'ls' sometimes gets mangled. Now when
I crank up cptrap, Sksh does a read of location 0 every time it
launches an external program, and a few other things. The interesting
one is a write to location 4 (if I remember correctly) when performing
filename completion. One thing I have been wanting to check into is
whether the data cache on the '030 is a problem. HAven't had time
though.

With the A3000, the 'options' command appears to be the main culprit
which brings down the house, though some of my aliases (when being
sourced) also do. Steve Koren mentioned that running nofastmem before
& after worked, but it doesn't on the A3000 I tried to get Sksh up on.
I actually can get Sksh running just fine on the A3000 after a complicated
sequence, but I'ts too much trouble to really mess with.

Sure miss it when I work on the A3000...
