[comp.sys.amiga] AMAX ][ info wanted

gdunlap@ecst.csuchico.edu (RANXEROX) (12/15/90)

I'm sure this has all been discussed here before, but I missed it -
it's hard to go through this group when I come back from vacation and find
over 1000 articles waiting!
I'm looking for information about AMAX II, specifically:

 - What hardware/software do you get? A Zorro II card? One of those
funky little boxes that plugs into your disk drive port and holds the
ROM? What's on the Zorro II card?
 - How good is the sound support? Is the card required for this? How
is it with games?
 - How compatable is AMAX _itself_ with games? MIDI?
 - Does AMAX II take advantage of ALL the new ECS modes, or just some?
 - I have heard that AMAX II can read Mac disks, but you need the card;
is this true? (This also implies that the card is extra). If so, any
idea how this works? Do you have to plug a disk drive into the card?
- Does AMAX II work on an A3000 (I thought I saw mention of that earlier)?
- What are the costs involved in buying AMAX II?
- Will the AMAX II card work properly in a Pheonix Expansion Toolbox hooked
up to an A500?

Please E-Mail; Technical answers are welcome! Thanks in advance!
