I'm working on some image compression/conversion software, and I need
some more information on IFF files. I can currently read 1-8 bit
mapped, 24 bit, and HAM (6 bit) ILBM files; I can write 1-8 bit
mapped and 24 bit ILBMs. I'm looking for specs and sample images
for any additional formats, including ARES, DRES, SHAM, AHAM, and DHAM.
Is there any reason for people on non-Amiga systems to write any IFF
formats other than straight mapped and 24 bit ILBMs? I assume that
the only people interested in the other formats are Amiga users, and
that utilities exist to convert 24 bit files to the various HAM and
ARES/DRES modes.
