I would like to thank all those who sent suggestions on how to go about fixing my amiga keyboard problem. For those who may come across a similar problem here is a brief description of problem and solution. My amiga seemed to be developing some trouble with the 'e' and tab keys. They slowly started to become unresponsive. Eventually they didnt work altogether. Fix: I took apart the case (You need a star shaped screwdriver , dont remove the regular screws...they hold the motherboard in place) and the keyboard (this envolves undoing a LOT of small + screws. Each key in the keyboard has a little rubber contact below it the rubber contact completes a circuit when pressed down. The key and rubber contact are buttoned together and can be easily separated (just pry the key up...dont lose the spring under it) I cleaned the contacts and switched the rubber pads with those under the function keys (I dont use them to often). (In the above I mean I cleaned the rubber contacts and the spots on the circuit where they make contact). Result... a working keyboard...(the2 function keys are a bit flaky but I dont use them to often...where can I get those rubber contacts?) Anyway...I just posted this cause I figure others may have the same probs. Oh yea...be careful with the circuitboard on the keyboard...it doesnt come loose unless ALL the screws are out. Remember which way the connector plugs into the motherboard. Arnold .
