[comp.sys.amiga] RIFF format explained

The RIFF format in its several incarnations was debuted at the Microsoft
Multimedia Developer's Conference this month in San Jose. It's practically
identical to IFF, (developers have to register chunk names with Microsoft)
except the chunk names are different. Microsoft gave credit to Electronic
Arts (but not C= 8() for its development. Even proprietary formats like
Macromind used for Director get enclosed in a RIFF "wrapper" for the Windows
multimedia extensions.
